Important Tax Dates and Deadlines for 2019

Well, 2019 is right around the corner, and before you know it important tax-related deadlines will be upon us. Due to changes in the tax code created by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) we highly recommend you allow extra time in gathering required information for the 2018 tax season.

Here is a quick list of important tax dates for you to remember. Please keep in mind that all filings and payments should be postmarked by midnight:

  • Partnership Tax Deadline

  •  4th Quarter 2018 Estimated Tax Payment Due

     

 

  • If you are a member of a partnership, you should file by this day or apply for an extension.

  • If you’re self-employed or have other forms of income that require you to pay a quarterly estimated tax, they are due by this date.

March 15, 2019

  • S Corp Tax Deadline
  • If you are an S Corp, you should file or apply for an extension.

April 15, 2019

  • Individual Return for 2018 Due

  • 1st Quarter 2019 Estimated Tax Payment due

  •  Last Day to make a 2018 IRA contribution
  • If you do not file your individual tax return, you must file for an extension by this date.

  • If you haven’t maxed out your contributions to your IRA (Roth or Traditional) this is your last day to make a contribution. (Note: the deadline for filing and contributions to Keogh and SEP is October 15, 2019)

May 15, 2019

  • Non-Profit Tax Deadline
  • If you are a Not-for-Profit, you must file by this date or file for an extension.

June 15, 2019

  • 2nd Quarter Estimated Tax Payment Due
  • If you’re self-employed or have other forms of income that require you to pay a quarterly estimated tax they are due by this date.

September 16, 2019

  • 3rd Quarter Estimated Tax Payment Due
  • If you’re self-employed or have other forms of income that require you to pay a quarterly estimated tax they are due by this date.

September 15, 2019

  • Extended Partnership  Tax Deadline

  •  Extended S Corp Tax Deadline
  • If you received a filing extension on your partnership or S Corp’s 2018 return, your return is due by this date.

October 15, 2019

  •  Extended Individual / Sole Proprietor returns Due

  •  Extended C Corp Tax Deadline
  • If you received a filing extension on your 2018 individual or C Corp return, your return is due by this date.

January 15 2020

  • 4th Quarter 2019 Estimated Tax Payment Due
  • If you’re self-employed or have other forms of income that require you to pay a quarterly estimated tax they are due by this date.

 

What if I’m a Pass-Through Entity (S Corps or Partnerships) on a fiscal year?

If you are a pass-through entity, such as an S Corporation or LLC, your taxes are due on the 15th day of the 3rd month of your fiscal year. For an extension, your taxes are due on the 15th day of the 9th month of your fiscal year.

What if I’m a Sole Proprietor or C Corp on a fiscal year?

If you are an individual or corporation, your taxes are due on the 15th day of the 4th month of your fiscal year. For an extension, your taxes are due on the 15th day of 10th month of your fiscal year.

What if I’m an Exempt Organization (non-profit or charity) on a fiscal year?

As an exempt organization on a fiscal year, your taxes are due on the 15th day of the 5th month of your fiscal year. For an extension, your taxes are due on the 15th day of 8th month of your fiscal year.
