Job Description

We are seeking a full-time employee with a minimum of 5-years of experience in bookkeeping or previous paraprofessional experience. Paraprofessionals will perform the routine full-charge bookkeeping functions as part of the  firm Client Accounting Services offering; record transactions within established systems and procedures; manage digital accounting systems; and work closely with clients and other firm staff to ensure all tax compliance is completed timely. Paraprofessionals will have experience in preparing sales tax, Ohio commercial activity tax, and federal, state and local payroll tax returns.

Responsibilities

  • Record monthly financial transactions in clients’ books and records, utilizing a variety of computerized systems.
  • Prepare payroll reports and all monthly and quarterly payroll tax returns for clients on timely basis.  This includes applicable federal, state  and local payroll taxes and all related on-line filings.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Ability to reconcile client’s trial balance and assemble work papers that document and support the period end account balances in clients’ books and records.
  • Experience in posting participant account activity for medical, dental, disability, and life insurance plans, 401(k) plans, and flexible spending plans.
  • Ability to prepare individual and simple business income tax returns a plus.
  • Assists with client communication.
  • Work with confidential client matters.
  • Perform other related work as required.
  • Ability to prepare interim and year-end compiled financial statements is a plus.


Desired Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum of five (5) years bookkeeping or previous paraprofessional experience.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism and work with a variety of computerized accounting systems.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Accounting Software; Pro Advisor certification is preferred for both desktop and online versions.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements associated with processing payroll transactions and preparation of payroll tax returns.
  • Experience in monitoring and recording participant account activity in Section 125 plans, 401(k) plans, and medical insurance plans a plus.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to execute assignments of a confidential nature and to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
  • Dependable; willing and able to learn.
