Zinner & Co. joins the Ohio Accounting Talent Coalition

by | 4 Sep | Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, Zinner & Co., Zinner News

Like many other industries, there is a shortage of talent entering the public accounting industry.

To combat this issue, the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA) formed the Ohio Accounting Talent Coalition (OATC), whose mission is to create a thriving Ohio accounting talent pipeline through meaningful storytelling, relevant curriculum, engaging work experience and accessible pathways to licensure.

As an active firm member of the OSCPA, Zinner and Co. recently joined the OATC.

We felt a responsibility to become members of this coalition to secure the resources needed to service our clients in the future and to continue the legacy of our well-respected profession.

It is an important workforce development initiative that engages leaders and key stakeholders in the business, academic, government and non-profit space to build and implement an action plan to formulate and implement lasting change.

The Coalition’s Strategic Framework is based upon the following model:

Strategic Framework

  • Messaging: How do we talk about the profession to attract the next generation of accounting talent?
  • Curriculum: What changes are necessary to attract, retain, and prepare future CPAs and accounting professionals?
  • Work Experience: What hands-on experience and culture help develop and retain future accounting professionals?

While some may find compliance to be a repetitive task, no two days are ever truly the same when working in public accounting! As CPAs, we get the opportunity to meet a variety of people and work in many different industries. It is a dynamic environment that requires professionals to be life-long learners with changes in accounting standards and tax law occurring at record pace these days.

If you know anyone who might be interested in joining the accounting profession, please feel free to connect them with a member of your Zinner & Co. Client Service Team.

We welcome the referrals and look forward to continuing the development and advancement of the best and the brightest to join our profession!
